Tony Award-winning composer Adam Guettel (The Light in the Piazza) is set to perform a concert of his own works, accompanied by Pace University BFA Musical Theater students and alumni, at the Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts on April 30. Amy Rogers will direct.
The concert event will be the culmination of Guettel's year-long residency with the university, during which he taught classes in musical theory, song interpretation, musical theater history and composition as well tested new material from a new project with Pace students. The evening will also include a discussion with Guettel about his creative process, with demonstrations of different versions and revisions of songs.
Adam Guettel's The Light in the Piazza received six 2005 Tony Awards including two for Guettel. He has also written music for Floyd Collins, which earned him the Obie Award. His other works include Love's Fire and Saturn Returns.
