Legendary Rodgers & Hammerstein heroine Shirley Jones will star, and Broadway’s Drama Desk Award-nominated Lucky Guy, Tom Hanks, will host Something Wonderful! The Songs of Rodgers & Hammerstein, a one-night-only gala concert in honor of the Irish Repertory Theatre’s 25th anniversary. The show will take place on June 10 at the Broadhurst Theatre.

Directed by Irish Rep artistic director Charlotte Moore, with musical direction by Mark Hartman, the work will feature “a galaxy of Broadway stars” performing the celebrated songs of the songwriting team, from “It’s a Grand Night for Singing” to “Some Enchanted Evening.”

Jones last appeared on Broadway in 2004 as Dorothy Brock in 42nd Street. She made her Broadway debut in South Pacific in 1953 and starred in the film versions of Oklahoma! and Carousel. She is best known for her Academy Award-winning performance in Elmer Gantry and as Shirley Partridge on the TV series The Partridge Family. Hanks won Academy Awards for his work in the films Philadelphia and Forrest Gump. He is currently making his Broadway debut in Nora Ephron’s Lucky Guy.

The Irish Rep’s 2013 annual benefit gala will be followed by a dinner with the cast at theater district eatery Sardi’s, across the street from the Broadhurst. For tickets and more information, visit www.irishrep.org.
