After an extensive national tour, Jekyll & Hyde returned to New York with a big Broadway opening on Thursday, April 18 at the Marquis Theatre. After the show, the cast, creative team, and guests were feted with a big party in the eighth-floor ballroom at the Marriott Marquis Hotel.
Written by Tony Award-nominated composer Frank Wildhorn (Bonnie & Clyde) and Grammy Award-winning lyricist/book writer Leslie Bricusse (Victor/Victoria), Jekyll & Hyde is a musical adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's 1886 gothic novella, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. It follows Dr. Henry Jekyll and his attempts to isolate the elements of good and evil within the human psyche using a strange mixture of rare drugs. Unable to find a human test subject, he begins to experiment on himself, unleashing his dark alter ego, Edward Hyde.
The cast features Constantine Maroulis as Jekyll/Hyde, Deborah Cox as Lucy Harris, Teal Wicks as Emma Carew, Richard White, Laird Mackintosh, David Benoit, Jerry Christakos, Sean Jenness, Mel Johnson Jr., James Judy, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Aaron Ramey, Blair Ross, Doug Storm, and Jason Wooten, Dana Costello, Wendy Fox, Brian Gallagher, Ashley Loren, and Courtney Markowitz.
Directed and choreographed by Tony Award nominee Jeff Calhoun (Newsies), Jekyll & Hyde features production design by Tobin Ost, lighting design by Jeff Croiter, sound design by Ken Travis, and projection design by Daniel Brodie.
