54 Below has announced a two-nights-only concert production of the short-lived Tom Kitt and Amanda Green Broadway musical High Fidelity, May 19 and 20. Original cast members Will Chase (The Mystery of Edwin Drood) and Jenn Colella (Chaplin) will lead the company. Leigh Silverman (Chinglish) will direct.
The cast of this musical event will also include Broadway favorites Ana Gasteyer (The Royal Family), Adam Chanler-Berat (Peter and the Starcatcher), and Mario Cantone (Laugh Whore). The female American folk rock duo The Indigo Girls will also make an appearance (on the 19th only).
The musical version of High Fidelity is based on a novel of the same name by Nick Hornby and features a book by David Lindsay-Abaire. The tale of a Brooklyn record shop owner opened on Broadway in December 2006 and closed fourteen performances later. The novel also inspired a 2000 film starring John Cusack.
