Off-Broadway’s Naked Angels Names Liz Carlson Artistic Director

Carlson will be taking over the role from Andy Donald, who is heading to New Jersey.

Downtown theater company Naked Angels has announced that current artistic director Andy Donald will be succeeded by Liz Carlson beginning May 1. Carlson is a graduate of the New School who has worked as both a director and producer in New York City.

Carlson’s directing credits include A Bicycle Country and Architruc at Williamstown Theatre Festival and A Soldier’s Tale at The New School, among many others. Donald, who was a part of the producing team that transferred Naked Angels’ first play to Broadway with Next Fall by Geoffrey Nauffts, will take on the role of creative producer at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center.

Naked Angels was formed in 1986 by a group of artists reacting to a void in the theater community for new and creative voices. The company is committed to strengthening a growing community of emerging artists through career development and debut productions of provocative new work.

The company has also recently announced a new partnership with The New School for Drama, Carlson’s alma mater.
