MCC has announced the first two productions slated for its 2013/14 season. As was previously reported, its first production, jointly produced with Manhattan Theatre Club, will be the world premiere Broadway production of Sharr White's The Snow Geese, starring Tony and Emmy Award winner, and MCC alum, Mary-Louise Parker (Proof).
The second production will be the New York premiere of John Pollono's Small Engine Repair, which was moved to the 2013/14 season after having originally been scheduled for 2012/13. Described as a "comic thriller," the play follows Frank, Swaino, and Packie — longtime friends who are now past their prime. They meet in Frank's repair shop after hours coming in contact with a preppy college jock named Chad, who makes the friends' old resentments bubble to the surface.
Directed by Jo Bonney (The Break of Noon), Small Engine Repair will be MCC's first mainstage season offering, scheduled to begin performances on October 30 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, with an official opening set for November 18. The show will star playwright Pollono along with Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead). Additional casting will be announced shortly.
