Fiona Shaw returns to Broadway for the first time since 2003 in this one-woman tour-de-force performance at the Walter Kerr Theater.
In the play, adapted from a work by Irish novelist Colm Tóibín, Shaw plays the Virgin Mary who we find grieving the loss of her son after the crucifixion. While two of Jesus' followers are shaping his story to suit their own purposes, Mary questions her son's divinity as she tells the story of Jesus from a maternal point of view. Two-time Olivier Award winner Deborah Warner directs.
