Dave Malloy's Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812, which received its world premiere at Ars Nova last summer, is heading back to New York City and into its own all-new venue. On May 1, the production will begin performances at Kazino, a brand-new venue created specifically for the show.

Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812 is a Tolstoy-esque electropop opera that follows Natasha Rostova, who arrives in Moscow to await the return of her fiancé from the front lines. But when she falls under the spell of the city's most charming rogue, it is up to the disillusioned Pierre to pick up the pieces of her reputation.

After the show's short original run last year, the producers decided that rather than transferring to another space, they wanted to create a venue designed specifically for their unique show. And that's exactly what they've done, along with Randy Weiner, producer of the immersive-theatre phenomenon Sleep No More and Simon Hammerstein, described as an international nightlife impresario.

The result of this collaboration was Kazino, the show's all-new venue. Kazino is designed to transport the audience to a Russian supper club, complete with an authentic Russian menu and bar. It is a temporary structure that will rise at the corner of West 13th Street and Washington Street, between The High Line and The Standard Hotel. Every ticket to the production will include a full Russian-style dinner, heightening the sense of immersion. There will also be pre- and post-show supper club-style entertainment.

Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812 will feature direction by Rachel Chavkin, and a cast including Brittain Ashford, Gelsey Bell, Blake DeLong, Amber Gray, Ian Lassiter, Dave Malloy, Grace McLean, Paul Pinto, Phillipa Soo, and Lucas Steele.

"Simon and I were inspired by the world of the show to heighten and augment the experience. We are creating our own unique take on a Russian supper club, a world of mystery and mystique that will entice and entertain audiences before, during, and after the show," said Kazino creator Randy Weiner in a statement.
