London's Old Vic has announced that Broadway favorite Seth Numrich will be joining Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall in the upcoming production of Tennessee Williams' Sweet Bird of Youth, which will begin previews on June 1. Marianne Elliott, an associate director of the National Theatre, will direct.
In Sweet Bird of Youth, former Hollywood legend Alexandra Del Lago (Cattrall) flees the disastrous premiere of her comeback film by traveling incognito while seeking refuge in drink and drugs and the arms of young idealistic gigolo Chance Wayne (Numrich).
In addition to Catrrall and Numrich, the cast will include Owen Roe, Brid Brennan, Charles Aitken, Michael Begley, Daniel Betts, Ruari Cannon, Emily De Cosimo, Louise Dylan, Kurt Kansley, Sean McConaghy, Katie Meekison, Bryonie Pritchard, Lucy Robinson, Violet Ryder, Ryan Saunders, Alistair Scott, Anthony Taylor, Joe Townley, John Trindle, and David Webber.
Kim Cattrall, in addition to her well-known portrayal of Sex and the City's Samantha Jones on television and film, has many stage credits, including Antony & Cleopatra, Wild Honey, and Private Lives.
Seth Numrich has starred on Broadway as Albert in War Horse and was also featured in the Broadway's revival of The Merchant of Venice, starring Al Pacino. Most recently, Numrich played Joe Bonaparte in Clifford Odets' Golden Boy on the Great White Way.
