The Paley Center for Media will present a 2012 Tony Awards Film Series, featuring Broadway-inspired films and exclusive interactive opportunities for audiences.

The series will open with the world premiere screening of the documentary, The Standbys (May 12, 2pm), which follows three undiscovered performers for several years through their ups and downs, struggles and triumphs, onstage performances and private lives. The screening will be followed by a talkback panel of Tony Award-winning Broadway stars who got their start as understudies or standbys.

Next will be a screening of Carol Channing: Larger Than Life (May 13, 12:15pm), directed by Dori Berinstein and featuring an intimate love story and a rarefied journey inside Broadway’s most glamorous era, as well as a look at an inspiring, incomparable, and always entertaining American Legend. Guests attending the screening are encouraged to come dressed as the Broadway legend for a fun and interactive Carol Channing Look-A-Like Contest!

The series will conclude with an audience Sing-A-Long screening of Oklahoma! (May 13, 2:45pm). Hugh Jackman stars in this Emmy Award-winning film version of the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical, along with Maureen Lipman, Josefina Gabrielle, and Shuler Hensley.
