Symphony Space and Encompass New Opera Theatre to Present Singing Stein

Symphony Space and Encompass New Opera Theatre are set to present Singing Stein, a tribute to Gertrude Stein, April 27 at 7pm and 9:30pm the Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre at Symphony Space. Nancy Rhodes will direct. Musical direction will be by Mara Waldman.

Singing Stein will be presented as part of Symphony Space’s Gertrude’s Paris festival, a month-long, multi-disciplinary festival devoted to the culture of Gertrude Stein’s Paris. The musical presentation will include two one-act operas based on texts by Stein, Virgil Thomson’s Capital Capitals and Ned Rorem’s Three Sisters Who Are Not Sisters.

The cast will include Alfred Barclift, Frank Basile, Erika Beth Hennings, Ryan Scott Lathan, Eapen Leubner, Joseph Peterson, Christopher Vettel, Jeanai La Vita, and Jennifer Rossetti.

The design team will be comprised of Michael Deegan and Sarah G. Conly (set and projection design) and Angela Huff (costume design).
