On Tuesday, April 10, The Collegiate Chorale presented The Mikado at Carnegie Hall with Ted Sperling at the helm as part of the company’s 2012 Spring Benefit honoring Norman Peck and The Peter Jay Sharp Foundation.
The show is a comic opera in two acts, with music by Arthur Sullivan and libretto by W.S. Gilbert. Set in Japan, it explores the exotic, macabre, and humorous while satirizing British politics and institutions in the fictionalized foreign town of Titipu.
