The cast and creative team of Tennessee Williams’ In Masks Outrageous and Austere met the press in costume Monday, April 2 at the Culture Project, where the production will begin previews Friday, April 6 in advance of an April 16 opening.
David Schweizer directs the world premiere production of Williams’ last full-length play, which features Shirley Knight as Babe Foxworth, the richest woman in the world, held captive with her gay husband (Robert Beitzel) and his young lover (Sam Underwood) by the Gideons (Scot Charles Anderson, Kaolin Bass, Ward Horton), a security team for Kudzu Chem, the corporation in control of her wealth. The company also features Alison Fraser, Connor Buckley, Christopher Halladay, Jonathan Kim, Jermaine Miles, and Pamela Shaw.
According to promotional materials, the production design will include a state-of-the-art video system, 60 LED panels, and 11 projectors.
The creative team includes Joe E. Jeffreys (dramaturg), Jim Noone (scenic design), Alexander V Nichols (lighting design), and Gabriel Berry (costume design).
