Masterworks Broadway to Release New Evita Cast Album

Masterworks Broadway will record the cast album for the new Broadway revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Evita, playing at the Marquis Theatre, this month. The album is set for a June 19 release.

Evita tells the story of Argentina’s Eva Peron, who used her beauty and charisma to rise meteorically from the slums of Argentina to the presidential mansion as First Lady. She won international acclaim and adoration from her own people as a champion of the poor, while glamour, power and greed made her the world’s first major political celebrity. Among the songs in the show are “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina,” “Buenos Aires,” “On This Night of a Thousand Stars,” “Rainbow High,” and “High Flying Adored.”

Directed by Michael Grandage and featuring choreography by Rob Ashford, the show stars Elena Roger (Eva), Ricky Martin (Che), and Michael Cerveris (Juan Peron), along with Max von Essen (Magaldi) and Rachel Potter (Mistress).
