Joey Arias, Arlo Guthrie, Norah Jones, John Oliver, Kristen Schaal Set for Summerstage 2012

The City Parks Foundation has announced the lineup for Summerstage 2012, featuring over 110 FREE music, dance, film, comedy, family and theater programs in 18 parks across all five boroughs.

Among the events in Central Park will be The New York Pops with Ozomatli (June 12), Joey Arias (June 15), The Blue Note Jazz Festival (June 17), Comedy Central: Indecision in the Park
with The Daily Show stars and writers Rory Albanese, Wyatt Cenac, Adam Lowitt, Al Madrigal
John Oliver , and Kristen Schaal, hosted by John Hodgman (June 20); Workmen’s Circle Yiddishfest 2012 – Singing for a Better World featuring The Klezmatics and others (June 26); Limón Dance Company with musical guest Paquito D’Rivera (June 30, July 1); CBGB Festival (July 7); SummerStage Kids Family Day with Justin Roberts and The Not So Ready for Naptime Players, Ill Style & Peace Productions, The New York Chinese Cultural Center, and The Bindlestiff Family Cirkus (July 8); A Guthrie Family Reunion: Celebrating Woody Guthrie’s 100 Birthday with Arlo Guthrie, Abe Guthrie, Cathy Guthrie, Annie Guthrie, Sara Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion (July 15); The Upright Citizens Brigade presents The All-Stars of Improv (July 17); and The Power of the Trinity, a play by Roland Wolf, directed by Alfred Preisser, with music by Tomás Doncker (July 31).

There will also be SummerStage benefit concerts in Central Park featuring Foster the People
with Tokyo Police Club and Kimbra (June 11); Childish Gambino with Danny Brown and Schoolboy Q (June 25); Norah Jones (July 3); Young the Giant (July 16); Beach House (July 23); Old Crow Medicine Show (August 6); and M83 (August 8).

Among the events in the outer boroughs will be a presentation of Paige in Full, a play by Paige Hernandez, directed by Danielle A. Drakes (Von King Park, Brooklyn, June 15 & 16 and Red Hook Park, Brooklyn, June 22 & 23); Comedy Central Live presents Hannibal Buress, Kevin Barnett, and Josh Rabinowitz (Red Hook Park , Brooklyn, June 24); Our Latin Thing: A Tribute to The Fania All Stars Felix Hernandez’s Rhythm Revue (Soundview Park , Bronx, June 28); Limón Dance Company master class and performance (St. Mary’s Park, Bronx, June 29); SummerStage Kids Bronx Family Day featuring The Red Trouser Show, The Bindlestiff Family Cirkus, and Little Club Heads (St. Mary’s Park, Bronx, June 30); A King of Infinite Space, a play by Mando Alvardo adapted from Shakespeare’s Hamlet, directed by Jerry Ruiz (St. Mary’s Park, Bronx, July 6 & 7 and Crotona Park , Bronx, July 13 & 14); Liberation Dance Theater and Jamal Jackson Dance Company (Queensbridge Park, Queens, July 20); and SummerStage Kids Queens Family Day featuring Randolph Matthews, Little Club Heads and LuckyBob: Magic Juggling Comedy (Springfield Park, Queens, July 29).

The Metropolitan Opera will present its Summer Recital Series in Brooklyn Bridge Park, July 27; Crotona Park, Bronx, July 31; Clove Lakes Park, Staten Island, August 2; Jackie Robinson Park, Manhattan); and Socrates Sculpture Garden, Queens, August 9.
