Jake Gyllenhaal to Star Off-Broadway in If There Is I Haven’t Found It Yet

Oscar nominee Jake Gyllenhaal will star Off-Broadway in the Roundabout Theatre Company’s production of Nick Payne’s If There Is I Haven’t Found It Yet. Michael Longhurst will direct this American premiere at the Laura Pels Theatre, August 24-November 25, with an opening on September 20.

The play centers on bullied 15-year-old Anna, whose unexpected friendship with her estranged uncle Terry (played by Gyllenhaal) sends her parents’ rocky marriage into a tailspin.

Gyllenhaal made his stage debut starring in Kenneth Lonergan’s revival of This is Our Youth in London, winning an Evening Standard Theater Award for “Outstanding Newcomer.” He receive an Oscar nomination for his work in Brokeback Mountain, and is also known for his performances in films such as Donnie Darko and Love and Other Drugs.

In related news, the Roundabout will also present the world premiere of Joshua Elias Harmon’s Bad Jews in its Roundabout Underground theater. Daniel Aukin will direct this comedy about the holy and the holier-than-thou, which will run October 5-December 16, with an opening on October 30.
