Puppetry Arts will host the First Annual Puppetry Arts Festival of Brooklyn on Saturday June 2, from 11am-5pm on 4th Street at 5th Ave along the park at the Old Stone House of Park Slope. The free and open to the public event is rain or shine and will feature puppet performances and hands on fun for puppet lovers of all ages.

Special guests include Noel MacNeal, puppeteer behind Bear of Bear in the Big Blue House and as Lionel from Between the Lions. MacNeal will be accompanied by Lionel himself in an audience participation puppet workshop. Other puppet troops include The Nimals, Fantasy Puppet Theatre, Playdate Puppets, and Puppetry Arts.

The event will close with a 45-minute live fully orchestrated performance at 4:00pm for audiences ages 12 and up, showcasing selections from the musical “Anthropomorphic” funded by the 5th Avenue BID of Park Slope and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Puppetry Arts secures free puppet making workshops in public schools that coincide with the grade level curriculum, produces free public performances of its original musicals for families and adults, and hosts large community events that provide accessible and affordable family activities.
