Earvin "Magic" Johnson Set for April 13 Talkback for Broadway’s Magic/Bird

Earvin “Magic” Johnson will join the cast for a talkback for the new Broadway play, Magic/Bird, following the April 13 2pm matinee performance at the Longacre Theatre.

Johnson is one of the two key subjects — along with fellow Hall of Famer Larry Bird — of Eric Simonson’s Magic/Bird, which chronicles the rivalry, friendship, and intertwined life stories of the two NBA stars. The show is currently in previews with an official opening set for April 11. Thomas Kail directs the production.

Magic/Bird stars Kevin Daniels as Johnson and Tug Coker as Bird, with the company also featuring Deirdre O’Connell (Georgia Bird/Shelly/Patricia Moore), Peter Scolari (Red Auerbach/Jerry Buss/Pat Riley), Rob Ray Manning, Jr. (Michael Cooper/Henry Alvarado/Frank), and Francois Battiste (Jon Lennox/Ron Baxter/Willy).

The creative team includes David Korins (scenic design), Howell Binkley (lighting design), Paul Tazewell (costume design), Nevin Steinberg (sound design), and Wendall K Harrington (projection design).
