Aaron Lazar, Rachel York to Join Megan Hilty in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes at Encores!

Complete casting has been announced for the Encores! production of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, to run May 9 – 13 at New York City Center. John Rando will direct the production, which will have choreography by Randy Skinner and music direction by Rob Berman.

With music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Leo Robin and a book by Anita Loos and Joseph Fields, the show, set in the Roaring Twenties, follows the madcap adventures of the original “dumb blonde,” Lorelei Lee, as she sets sail for Europe with her best friend Dorothy Shaw. Among the show’s hit songs are “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend,” “Bye, Bye, Baby,” “A Little Girl from Little Rock” and “I Love What I’m Doing (When I’m Doing it for Love).”

In addition to the previously announced Megan Hilty, who will play Lorelei Lee, the company will feature Rachel York (Dorothy Shaw), Stephen R. Buntrock (Joseph Gage), Aaron Lazar (Henry Spofford), Deborah Rush (Mrs. Ella Spofford), Clarke Thorell (Gus Esmond, Jr), Sandra Shipley (Lady Phyllis Beekman), Phillip Attmore (Tap Dancer), Steven Boyer (Louis Lemanteur), Brennan Brown (Esmond Sr.), Jared Grimes (Tap Dancer), Simon Jones (Sir Francis Beekman), and Megan Sikora (Gloria Stark).

The ensemble will include Callan Bergmann, Charissa Bertels, Sam Bolen, Eric Bourne, Kyle Brown, Robin Campbell, Christine DiGiallonardo, Luke Hawkins, Arlo Hill, Michael Marcotte, Nick McGough, Shannon M. O’Bryan, Lindsay O’Neil, Kristyn Pope, Lindsay Roberts, Kelly Sheehan, Jessica Vosk, Anna Aimee White and Matt Zimmerman.
