Works by Anton Dudley, Alex Lewin, Ed Napier Set for MCC Theater’s PlayLab Series

MCC Theater has announced the three plays that will comprise its 2011 PlayLab reading series, to be offered at Baruch Performing Arts Center April 18 & 25 and May 9 at 7pm.

The first offering will be Alex Lewin’s Alexandira, an exploration of what happens when a huge American coffee franchise offers to buy a small Egyptian café, to be directed by Shana Gold. Ed Napier will direct his own play, The Writing on the Wall, a comedy about a TV writer who becomes tangled in a power struggle between his boss and the star of the show. The PlayLab series will conclude with Terms of Encampment, written and directed by Anton Dudley, about an octogenarian, who after threatening suicide, finds his alarmed grandson attempting to show him how his life has meaning.
