Tracy Letts, Amy Morton, et al. Set for Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? on Broadway

Tracy Letts and Amy Morton will reprise their performances as George and Martha in Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? on Broadway in the fall of 2012. Pam MacKinnon has directed the production, which will officially open on October 13, 2012, the 50th anniversary of the play’s original opening.

The play centers on two couples — one older, one younger — sharing a drunken evening at a small liberal arts college. Letts and Morton will be joined by Carrie Coon as Honey and Madison Dirks, performers who have appeared alongside them in the production, which originated at Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre and was recently seen at Arena Stage in Washington, DC.

The Broadway production will feature the original Steppenwolf creative team: Todd Rosenthal (set design), Nan Cibula-Jenkins (costume design), Allen Lee Hughes (light design) and Rob Milburn and Michael Bodeen (sound design).

As a playwright, Letts won the Tony and Pultizer Prize for August: Osage County. Morton received a Tony Award nomination for her performance in the play.
