Metropolitan Opera to Hold Free Summer Recital Series

The Metropolitan Opera will hold a free-of-charge summer recital series in all five boroughs New York City.

Performers will include soprano Angela Meade, mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnson Cano, and tenor Dimitri Pittas for the shows on July 11 at 8pm in Central Park SummerStage (Manhattan) and on July 13 at 7pm in Brooklyn Bridge Park (Brooklyn).

Later recitals will feature soprano Layla Claire, mezzo-soprano Renée Tatum, and bass-baritone Ryan Speedo Green for performances on July 19 at 7pm in Crotona Park (Bronx); July 21 at 7pm in Clove Lakes Park (Staten Island); and July 26 at 7pm in Socrates Sculputre Park (Queens). Pianist Bradley Moore will perform with the singers at all six recitals.

In related news, The Met will hold a ten-day festival of encore screenings from the Met’s popular HD transmissions in Lincoln Center Plaza, August 27 – September 5; titles and starting times for the screenings will be announced closer to the festival date.
