Jason Butler Harner, Ben Rosenfield, and Chris Sarandon will join the previously reported Academy Award and Golden Globe Award nominee Carey Mulligan in Atlantic Theater Company’s Through a Glass Darkly, to be presented at New York Theatre Workshop, May 13-July 3, with an opening set for June 6. David Leveaux will direct.

Based on the Academy Award-winning Ingmar Bergman film, and adapted for the stage by Jenny Worton, the play tells the story of Karin (Mulligan), the central figure in the lives of her family, not least because her own tenuous grip on reality keeps everyone in constant motion around her. On an annual vacation to a beautiful remote island, tensions flare as her husband, father and brother struggle over the best way to help her, and Karin decides that she must take command of her own destiny.

Sarandon most recently appeared on Broadway in the revival of Cyrano de Bergarac and the musical The Light in the Piazza. He is perhaps best known for his Oscar-nominated performance as Leon in Dog Day Afternoon and as Prince Humperdink in The Princess Bride. Harner most recently appeared on Broadway in The Coast of Utopia and opposite Angelina Jolie in the feature film The Changeling. He received a Drama Desk Award nomination for his performance in the Jon Robin Baitz play The Paris Letter and an Obie Award for his work in the Off-Broadway revival of Hedda Gabler. Ben Rosenfield will be making his professional Off Broadway debut in this production.
