The new family musical, Helen on 86th Street, featuring book and lyrics by Nicole Kempskie and music by Robby Stamper, will receive its world premiere at the American Theatre of Actors, April 28-May 8. Kempskie will direct, with music direction by Stamper and choreography by Valerie Salgado.

Adapted from Wendi Kaufman’s 1997 New Yorker short story, the musical follows Vita Calista, a vibrant and unique 12-year-old girl, as she learns to cope with an absent father, a single mother, a disappointing role in the school production of The Trojan Horse, and the daily pressures of a tween growing up in New York City.

Taylor Leigh Bera will star as Vita, with the cast also including Meredith Inglesby, Kathryn Markey, Kevin Pariseau, Izzy Hanson Johnston, Sean Gilbert, Shereen Pimentel, Kaylie Rubinaccio, Leah Greenhaus, Missy Dreier, Aurielle Kaminski, Emma Young, Danielle Leigh Rosenthal, Maggie Bera, Greg Ippolito, Martine Bowman, Amanda Yuan, Mia Fitzgibbon, and Clarice Mazanec.

The production will feature Clarice Mazanec on cello, set and lighting design by Ji-Youn Chang, costume design by Cat Fisher, and sound by Jason Hurley.
