Dino Anagnost, music director and conductor of The Little Orchestra Society of New York, passed away on Wednesday, March 30.

Anagnost served in his position at the orchestra for 32 years, creating uniquely designed concerts for children, such as Lolli-Pops and Happy Concerts for Young People. In addition, he oversaw innovative concerts for adults, including the Vivaldi’s Venice series.

Among his other credits are conducting the Asian premieres of Menotti’s The Medium and Amelia Goes to the Ball; Poulenc’s La Voix humaine for PBS’ Great Performances, and a recreation of Richard Rodgers’ ballet “Slaughter on Tenth Avenue,” with New York City Ballet’s prima ballerina Allegra Kent, for an IBM special.

Anagnost is survived by a brother, a sister, a sister-in-law, and three nephews.

In lieu of flowers, friends and supporters are encouraged to make contributions to The Little Orchestra Society.
