Bob Avian, Tyne Daly, Olympia Dukakis, Arthur Laurents, et al. to Remember Theoni V. Aldredge at May 9 Memorial

A memorial for Tony Award-winning costume designer Theoni V. Aldredge will be held in the Public Theater‘s Newman theater on May 9, from 2pm-4pm.

The celebration of Aldredge’s life and career will begin with remarks from Public Theater artistic director Oskar Eustis, followed by Theoni’s niece, designer Merope Vachlioti, who will speak on behalf of the family.

Guests will include Tom Aldredge, who was Theoni V. Aldredge’s husband, in addition to Olympia Dukakis, Cigdem Onat, Ming Cho Lee, Bob Avian, Tyne Daly, Arthur Laurents, and Joel Grey.

Aldredge was the head costume designer for The Public Theater for nearly 20 years, working on over 80 productions, including A Chorus Line, HAIR, Sticks and Bones, That Championship Season, and Threepenny Opera.. In addition to her work at the Public, Aldredge designed over 100 Broadway productions, winning Tonys for La Cage aux Folles, Barnum, and Annie. She also worked extensively in film and television, and won an Oscar The Great Gatsby.
