Marisa Tomei and William H. Macy will join Matthew McConaughey in the legal thriller The Lincoln Lawyer, according to a report in Variety. Brad Furman will direct the movie, which is based on Michael Connelly’s best-selling book and has a screenplay by John Romano. Filming is set to begin in July.

The movie centers on a moderately successful criminal defense attorney, who operates out of the backseat of his Lincoln Town Car and who has spent most of his career defending garden-variety criminals. Things change when he’s asked to represent a Beverly Hills playboy accused of murder. The cast also features Ryan Phillippe, Michael Pena, Trace Adkins, and Katherine Moennig.

Tomei has starred on Broadway in Salome and Wait Until Dark. Her stage credits also include We Won’t Pay! We Won’t Pay!, Waiting for Lefty, Rocket to the Moon, Design for Living, and Oh The Humanity and Other Good Intentions. She received the Academy Award for her work in My Cousin Vinny.

Macy was last seen on Broadway in the revival of Speed-the-Plow. The actor is a co-founder of the Atlantic Theater Company, where his credits as performer and director include American Buffalo, The Joy of Going Somewhere Definite, Three Sisters, and Boy’s Life. He received an Oscar nomination for Fargo and won two Emmy Awards for starring in and co-writing the telefilm Door to Door.
