Tony and Academy Award winner Tony Walton will direct a series of concert readings of Thomas Keneally and Larry Kirwan’s Transport, to run April 30-May 2 at the Irish Arts Center. Casting for the reading will be announced at a later date.

The piece focuses on the true story of an Irish woman who travels from Cork to Australia in 1842.

Kirwan, co-founder of the New York City band Black 47, is also a recording artist, author and playwright. He has produced two solo recordings, Kilroy Was Here and Keltic Kids, and published three books, Rockin’ The Bronx, Liverpool Fantasy and Green Suede Shoes: An Irish American Odyssey.
