The current Off-Broadway production of the Tom Jones-Harvey Schmidt The Fantasticks, playing at the Snapple Theater Center, will have a series of events, May 1-3, in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the show’s original New York production.

On Saturday, May 1 at 5pm, there will be a free screening of the 1964 Hallmark Hall of Fame one-hor version of the show, which starred Bert Lahr, Ricardo Montalban, Susan Watson, Stanley Holloway, and John Davidson. It will be followed by a Q&A with Watson and Jones — who currently plays the Old Actor in the show under the stage name Thomas Bruce.

On May 1 at 8pm, over 50 alumnae of the show will come on stage for the curtain call and sing a special song for the occasion. There will also be a special anniversary performance on Monday, May 3 at 8pm.

In addition, Jones will be a presenter at the Lucille Lortel Awards on Sunday, May 2 at Terminal 5, and Edward Watts, who plays El Gallo, will sing “Try to Remember” and recount the show’s history.

The company also features Erik Altemus, Tom Flagg, Gene Jones, Matt Leisy, Michael Nostrand, Evy Ortiz, Steve Routman, Kimberly Whalen, and Scott Willis.
