Richard Foreman’s Ontological-Hysteric Theater to Depart St. Mark’s Church

Richard Foreman’s Ontological-Hysteric Theater has announced that it will cease operations at St. Mark’s Church at the end of the 2009-2010 season. The theater has been housed at St. Mark’s since 1992. Beginning July 1, programming will be taken over by The Incubator.

Foreman and the Ontological-Hysteric Theater will continue to function, but will be more focused on film/video work under the sub-set of the International Bridge Project. In a statement, Foreman is quoted as saying, “My aesthetic remains the same, but after many years of making theater there’s been a thematic deepening of everything I’ve been working towards that can now only be made possible through film.”
