Public Theater to Honor Producer Bernard Gersten at Summer Gala

Bernard Gersten and Bank of America will be the honorees at the Public Theater’s 2010 Summer Gala, to be held at the Delacorte Theater on June 21, which is the opening night of the Public’s Shakespeare in the Park production of The Merchant of Venice, directed by Daniel Sullivan and starring Al Pacino.

Gersten, currently executive producer of Lincoln Center Theater, was formerly the associate producer of the Public Theater. Bank of America isa sponsor of Shakespeare in the Park

The Public’s Summer Gala will include a dinner in Central Park, a performance of The Merchant of Venice, and a party after the show at Belvedere Castle. The theater will hold a second fundraiser on June 30 in tandem with the opening night of The Winter’s Tale to be directed by Michael Greif.
