The musical, which is set to open officially on April 29, stars Sherie Rene Scott, and was co-written by her with Dick Scanlan. Tony Award winner Michael Mayer directs the production, with choreography by Michel Lynch. The cast also includes Eamon Foley, Lindsey Mendez, and Betsy Wolfe.
The loosely autobiographical piece uses a diverse selection of pre-existing tunes to serve as the soundtrack to Scott's life story, which she shares with the audience in short vignettes. It includes songs made famous by David Byrne, Roberta Flack, Mister Rogers, The Supremes, Tom Waits, U2, and Judy Garland. A cast album, which was recorded after the show's run last year at Second Stage, will be released in May on Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight Records.
The creative team also includes Tom Kitt (orchestrations & arrangements), Michael Rafter (music supervision), Marco Paguia (music direction), Christine Jones (sets), Tom Broecker (costumes), Kevin Adams (lights), Brian Ronan (sound), and Darrel Maloney (projections).
