Michael Cerveris Set for Futurity Musical Workshops at HERE

Tony Award winner Michael Cerveris is set to join The Lisps’ César Alvarez, Eric Farber and Sammy Tunis for a trio of workshop performances of their musical Futurity at HERE Arts Center on April 15 at 7pm and April 16 at 7pm and 11pm.

With music and lyrics by Alvarez and The Lisps, and a book by Molly Rice and Alvarez, Futurity tells the story of a young Union Soldier in the Civil War who is an aspiring inventor and science fiction visionary. Together with his brilliant mentor, the famous metaphysician Ada Lovelace, Julian escapes the horrors and monotony of his daily life by dreaming up a high-tech dystopian future. The company also feature Chelsey Donn, Maya Ferrara, Grant O’Brien, Aaron Schroeder, Ben Simon, Caroline Tamas, Jillian Tully, and Lorenzo Wolff.

The musical was performed at the Zipper and Joe’s Pub in early 2009 and these workshops are being presented as part of Motherlodge Live Arts Exchange and the 7th Ave South Festival.
