Mare Winningham to Join Kate Winslet, Brian F. O’Byrne, Evan Rachel Wood in HBO’s Mildred Pierce

Mare Winningham will join the previously announced Kate Winslet, Brian F. O’Bryne and Evan Rachel Wood in the HBO miniseries Mildred Pierce, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Todd Haynes will direct the five-part miniseries.

Based on the James M. Cain novel, Mildred Pierce focuses on a proud mother (Winslet) fighting for the love of her daughter (Wood) during the Depression. Winningham will play Mildred’s friend Ida Corwin.

Winningham’s stage credits include The Whisper House, Glass Menagerie, 10 Million Miles, Hurlyburly, Side Man, and Lessons. She received an Oscar nomination for Georgia and won Emmy Awards for George Wallace and Amber Waves. Her other film and television credits include St. Elmo’s Fire, Love Is Never Silent, The Boys Next Door, Maldonado Miracle, and Grey’s Anatomy.
