Mamma Mia!‘s May 5 Performance to Benefit Komen Greater NYC

The May 5 performance of Mamma Mia!, playing at the Winter Garden Theatre, will benefit Greater New York City Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, an organization dedicated to providing services related to the prevention and treatment of breast cancer.

Tickets for the performance will be discounted through givenik.com and 10% of the proceeds from tickets sold at the site will be donated to Komen Greater NYC. On the evening of the event, there will be a pink runway leading into the Winter Garden Theatre, special signage in the lobby, an information table with educational materials about breast health and Komen Greater NYC programs and a cast acknowledgment of the special Komen Greater NYC performance, encouraging audience members to learn more about breast health.

The musical, which is in its ninth year at the Winter Garden Theatre, uses the songs of ABBA. It follows the story of a forty-something mother planning her daughter’s wedding — unaware that the girl has invited three men who might be her father.

The show has music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, is written by Catherine Johnson, and directed by Phyllida Lloyd.
