Tony Award winner Gregory Jbara will return to the Broadway production of Billy Elliot the Musical, at the Imperial Theatre, on May 4, ending his previously announced leave of absence. Philip Whitchurch, who has been performing the role of Billy’s Dad since January, will play his final performance on May 2.

Based on the 2000 film of the same name, the show tells the tale of a young boy with a dream of being a dancer. The show — which won 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical — features music by Elton John, book and lyrics by Lee Hall, choreography by Peter Darling and direction by Stephen Daldry.

Jbara won the Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Tony award for his performance in Billy Elliot. He also received a Drama Desk nomination for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, with other Broadway credits including Victor/Victoria, Damn Yankees, and Chicago.
