Berna Ceppas’ Music for Cirque du Soleil’s Ovo to Be Released on CD April 27

The album for Cirque du Soleil’s newest touring production Ovo, currently playing at the Grand Chapiteau on Randall’s Island, will be released in stores on April 27. Featuring music composed by Berna Ceppas, the CD is produced by Ceppas and Alain Vient and can currently be downloaded from iTunes in the U.S. and Canada.

The name Ovo means “egg” in Portuguese, and the production, written and directed by renowned Brazilian choreographer Deborah Colker, is described by the company as being “a headlong rush into a colorful ecosystem teeming with life, where insects work, eat, crawl, flutter, play, fight and look for love in a non-stop riot of energy and movement.” The action of Ovo is set in motion when a mysterious egg appears in the insects’ midst.

Written and directed by renowned Brazilian choreographer Deborah Colker, the oher members of the show’s creative team include Guy Laliberté and Gilles Ste-Croix (artistic guide), Chantal Tremblay (director of creation), Gringo Cardia (set/prop design), Liz Vandal (costume design), Éric Champoux (lighting design), and Jonathan Deans (sound design).
