American Idiot Broadway Cast Recording to Be Released April 20

The original Broadway cast recording of American Idiot will be released by Reprise Records on April 20 to coincide with the show’s opening at the St. James Theatre.

The album will feature the 24-member cast accompanied by Green Day and include every song from American Idiot, as well as several songs from the band’s Grammy Award-winning current album, 21st Century Breakdown.

The musical, which is written by Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool along with director Michael Mayer, follows a group of working-class characters from the suburbs to the city to the Middle East as they seek redemption in a world filled with frustration.

The company features John Gallagher, Jr., Stark Sands, Michael Esper, Rebecca Naomi Jones, Christina Sajous, Mary Faber, and Tony Vincent, along with Declan Bennett, Andrew Call, Gerard Canonico, Miguel Cervantes, Joshua Henry, Van Hughes, Brian Charles Johnson, Joshua Kobak, Lorin Latarro, Omar Lopez-Cepero, Leslie McDonel, Chase Peacock, Theo Stockman, Ben Thompson, Alysha Umphress, Aspen Vincent, and Libby Winter.

The show’s and album’s arrangements and orchestration were done by Tony Award-winning composer Tom Kitt, who is the show’s music supervisor, orchestrator, and music arranger. Armstrong is the album’s producer.
