Stage and screen star Alan Cumming will not play Green Goblin in the upcoming Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark, due to a scheduling conflict, according to a spokesperson for the show.

The production, to be directed by Tony Award winner Julie Taymor, is scheduled to debut sometime in 2010 at the Hilton Theater, with Reeve Carney in the title role. Additional information will be announced shortly.

As previously reported, Cumming will become a series regular on CBS’ The Good Wife during its second season, according to a report on EW.com.
The performer joined the series earlier this year as Eli Gold., a sharp-tongued reputation rehabilitator.

Cumming won the Tony Award for Cabaret. He will be seen on the big screen in Taymor’s adaptation of The Tempest and is touring his cabaret show I Saw A Blue Car Today around the country, including two upcoming stints at Feinstein’s at the Loews Regency in New York City.
