NYC’s Public Theater to Undergo Major Renovation

The Public Theater will undergo a major renovation, beginning in February, according to The New York Times.

The renovation, to be created by Polshek Partnerships Inc, will include a new front stoop made of gray granite, the expansion of the lobby to include nearly 700 visitors, a mezzanine balcony that projects over the lobby, new interior staircases, additional bathrooms, and upgrades to the heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems.

According to the Times, the city, which owns the building, has committed $22 million to the $35 million project, and The Public has raised about 35 percent of the remaining cost. Completion of the project is scheduled for August, 2011.
