Negro Ensemble Company Announces Cast for Leslie Lee’s Sundown Names and Night-gone Things

Casting has been announced for the New York City premiere of the Negro Ensemble Company’s Sundown Names and Night-gone Things, written by Tony Award nominated and Obie Award winning playwright Leslie Lee, to play the Castillo Theatre, May 14-June 7. Woodie King, Jr. will direct.

The play depicts the journey of 20-year-old Cairo Biggs, who has fled rural Mississippi for Chicago in the late 1930’s in search of the Promised Land, armed with few skills but great curiosity.

The cast will include Nathan Purdee, Marcus Naylor, Ralph McCain, Crystal Dickinson Dirden, DeWanda Wise, and Stephen Tyrone Williams.
