Jane Fonda, James Gandolfini, Susan Sarandon, et al. to Participate in BC/EFA’s Easter Bonnet Competition

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS will present the 23rd Annual Easter Bonnet Competition at 4:30pm on Monday, April 27 and 2pm on Tuesday, April 28 at the Minskoff Theatre. The proceeds from the event will benefit BC/EFA.

This year’s hosts, presenters, and guest performers will include Joan Allen, Andrea Burns, Danny Burstein, Jen Cody, Gavin Creel, Johanna Day, Andre De Shields, Tovah Feldshuh, Jane Fonda, Jeremy Irons, Rebecca Luker, Andrea Martin, Javier Munoz, Karen Olivo, Geoffrey Rush, Thomas Sadoski, Susan Sarandon, Will Swenson, John Tartaglia, and Doris Eaton Travis.

The two-day spectacular will feature the companies of more than 15 Broadway, Off-Broadway and touring productions singing, dancing, and donning original Easter bonnets. Productions scheduled to participate include 33 Variations, Avenue Q, Billy Elliot, Chicago, Guys and Dolls, Hair, Impressionism, Jersey Boys, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Mamma Mia!, The Marvelous Wonderettes, Mary Poppins, Naked Boys Singing, The Phantom of the Opera, Shrek, West Side Story, and Wicked.

The winner of the competition will be the company that raises the largest amount of money for BC/EFA over a six-week period. A second award is granted to the company with the best bonnet design and presentation. Awards are also presented to the Broadway play, national tour, and Off-Broadway production raising the most money for BC/EFA.

The Easter Bonnet judges, who will critique Tuesday’s performance, will include Laura Benanti, Brian D’Arcy James, Jeff Daniels, Hope Davis, Marcia Gay Harden, Marsha Mason, Steven Pasquale, and Alice Ripley.
