Deborah Voigt to Headline Collegiate Chorale’s Alceste on May 26

Opera star Deborah Voigt will star with the Collegiate Chorale in a concert production of Gluck’s Alceste at 8pm on Tuesday, May 26 at the Rose Theatre at Jazz at Lincoln Center.

The production will also feature the New York City Opera Orchestra, led by George Manhan, as well as singers Vinson Cole, Ryan Kinsella, and Kyungmook Yun. Voigt is world-renowned for her performances in such operas as Tristan und Isolde, Ariadne aux Naxos, and Aida.

The opera, which is being presented in a version from 1776, focuses on Alceste, Queen of Pherae, who is willing to sacrifice her own life in order to save her mortally ill husband.
