Tonight’s performance of Tina Howe’s Chasing Manet, presented by Primary Stages at 59E59 Theaters, has been canceled due to an unexpected emergency on the part of cast member Vanessa Aspillaga.

Performances will resume on Thursday evening, April 23, with Donnetta Lavinia Grays playing the multiple roles usually portrayed by Aspillaga. Grays, who recently appeared in Primary Stages’ production of Shipwrecked!, will continue with the production until further notice.

Chasing Manet is about a rebellious painter from a distinguished family in Boston and an ebullient Jewish woman with a huge adoring family, and stars Jane Alexander and Lynn Cohen, with Jack Gilpin, Julie Halston, David Margulies, and Robert Christopher Riley. The show’s creative team includes Tony Straiges (sets), David C. Woolard (costumes), Howell Binkley (lighting), and John Gromada (sound).
