Cast Set for Genny Lim’s Paper Angels

The cast is set for Direct Arts’ workshop production of Genny Lim’s Paper Angels, presented in conjunction with The Performance Project @ University Settlement, April 29-May 2.

Set in 1915, the play explores America’s historic ambiguity towards its immigrants through the story of a group of Chinese detainees on Angel Island, the Ellis Island of the West. This new multimedia production of the 1979 play will feature archival footage of Angel Island and a traditional Chinese music ensemble.

The cast will include Louis Changchien, Robert Fitzsimmons, Jojo Gonzalez, Wai Ching Ho, Kerry Huang, Ryan King, Victoria Linchong, Doan Ly, and Amy Staats.

There will be a special post-show discussion on Friday, April 30 with Peter Kwong, author of Chinese America: The Untold Story of America’s Oldest New Community.
