The Tony Awards Administration Committee met on April 2 to discuss eligibility for five recent Broadway productions: Blithe Spirit, Guys and Dolls, Hedda Gabler, 33 Variations, and You’re Welcome America: A Final Night With George W. Bush.

Angela Lansbury, a four-time Tony winner, will be eligible in the Featured Actress in a Play category for her role as Madame Arcati in Blithe Spirit, while Rupert Everett will be eligible for Lead Actor and Christine Ebersole and Jayne Atkinson will compete in the Lead Actress category.

You’re Welcome America: A Final Night With George W. Bush, which starred Will Ferrell as the former president, will be eligible in the Special Theatrical Event category.

Michael Cerveris, Paul Sparks, and Peter Stormare will be eligible as Featured Actor in a Play for Hedda Gabler; Mary-Louise Parker will be eligible as Best Lead Actress.

All other decisions were consistent with opening night credits. The committee will meet one more time in May to determine eligibility on the remainder of the season’s productions.

The Tony Award nominations will be announced on Tuesday, May 5. The awards will be presented on Sunday, June 7 at Radio City Music Hall and aired live on CBS-TV.
