Richardson, Ryan, Shawn Set for Theatre for a New Audience Gala

Playwright and actor Wallace Shawn will receive the Samuel H. Scripps Award at Theatre for a New Audience’s annual gala, to be held at 6:30pm on Monday, May 12 at the American Museum of National History.

Amy Ryan will be the evening’s master of ceremonies, and Miranda Richardson will present the award, which consists of a sculpture of William Shakespeare designed by Milton Glaser.

Shawn’s plays include The Designated Mourner, Aunt Dan and Lemon, The Fever, and Marie and Bruce, and he co-wrote and appeared in the film My Dinner with Andre. His other stage and film appearances include Hurlyburly, The Princess Bride, and Manhattan.

The gala will also include a cocktail reception, silent auction, dinner, live auction, and music by the Jazz Museum in Harlem All-Stars. Tickets begin at $500 per person and can be ordered by calling 212-343-1920. For additional information, visit www.tfana.org.
