Michael O. Smith’s The Bully Pulpit to Open at Beckett Theater in May

Written and performed by Michael O. Smith, The Bully Pulpit will play The Samuel Beckett Theater April 29-June 29, with an opening set for May 14. Byam Stevens will direct.

Presented by The South Ark Stage, this new play is about the extraordinary life and turbulent times of Theodore (Teddy) Roosevelt, our 26th president, as he comes to grips with his legacy ten years out of office.

The creative team will include Charlie Corcoran (scenic design), Jill Nagle (lighting design), and Tom Shread (sound design).

Smith’s theater credits include Dracula, The Elephant Man, Amadeus, 1776, and 2: Goering at Nuremberg, for which he received three Sarasota Critics’ Awards. His TV credits include Evening Shade, Murder She Wrote, The Young and the Restless, Days of Our Lives and B.L. Stryker. Stevens’s prior credits include The Plains of Ilion, The Darlings, Home Fires Burning, and John and Teddy.
