Full Cast, Creative Team Announced for Il matrimonio segreto at BAM

Full cast and creative team information has been announced for Cimarosa’s Il matrimonio segreto, to be directed by Jonathan Miller at BAM Harvey Theater, May 28-June 1.

The opera, to be performed in Italian with English titles, is a humorous cautionary tale about the consequences of keeping secrets. It features music by Domenico Cimarosa, and a libretto by Giovanni Bertati. Paul Goodwin conducts members of Brooklyn Philharmonic.

The cast will include Jonathan Best (Il conte Robinson), Fredrika Brillembourg (Fidalma), Conal Coad (Geronimo), Georgia Jarman (Elisetta), Chad A. Johnson (Paolino), and Heidi Stober (Carolina). The design team will include John Conklin (set), Clare Mitchell (costumes), and Robert Wierzel (lighting).

Miller returns to BAM following critically acclaimed productions of Bach’s St. Matthew Passion and Mozart’s Così fan tutte. Miller’s theater directing credits include The Merchant of Venice with Sir Laurence Olivier and Joan Plowright, The Taming of the Shrew, The Seagull, A Long Day’s Journey Into Night, The Emperor, Andromache, The Tempest, King Lear, and The Liar.
