Angela Bassett to Join NBC’s E.R. in Fall 2008

Stage and screen star Angela Bassett will join the cast of the long-running NBC medical drama E.R. in the fall, as a troubled physician who has spent time in Indonesia doing tsunami relief.
Bassett’s stage credits include the original Broadway production of August Wilson’s Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, the Public Theater production of Macbeth opposite Alec Baldwin, and the Pasadena Playhouse production of Wilson’s Fences.
She received an Oscar nomination for playing Tina Turner in What’s Love Got to Do With It?, and her many film credits include How Stella Got Her Groove Back, Waiting to Exhale, Boesman and Lena, Akeelah and the Bee and Meet the Browns.
